DISMALAND, BEMUSEMENT PARK.

SEPTEMBER.

The SAVAGES girls were asked to play a concert at graffiti artist Banksy's summer creation, aptly named, Dismaland. An anti establishment theme park.

Created on the site of an old Lido in the Edwardian seafront resort of Weston Supermare, in England.

this temporary exhibition included works from artists by the likes of Damien Hirst, David Shrigley and Banksy himself. Each day that the park was open, it was sold out. It is estimated that Dismaland brought in more than 150,000 visitors from all over the world and generated £20m in extra revenue for the people and businesses of the town. The money raised was given towards helping the camp of refugees and asylum seekers in Calais, France.

I was very fortunate to have an empty Bemusement Park for two hours in the early evening. The public were ushered out while the soundchecks were complete and the preparations were made for the evening events. It was a beautiful sunset behind the Castle and the Ferris Wheel, adding such contrast to the delapidated seaside attractions.
